Homes for sale in Placerita Canyon - Equestrian Dream Properties
Equestrian properties abound here, and the Melody Ranch is a focal point of the area. My favorite TV series of all time, Deadwood (HBO) was largely shot at Melody Ranch, and it's easy to see why. The area is western. Adjoining Quigley Canyon is the home of the prestigious Masters College.
My chief concern with the area, is that there is only one way in or out, via the dated intersection at 13th street in Newhall. This is a HUGE area, to have only one road in and out. Residents saw to that by gating the southern entrance to the area on Placerita Canyon Road years ago. Plans to join Lyons Ave. with Dockweiler Road will address this in the next 5-7 years, according to city planners.
Disney Steps Up
South of the 14 freeway, Walt Disney studios has been quietly filling out its vast (700 acres) land holdings with state of the art back-lots and soundstages at their Golden Oak Ranch studios. The demand for quality housing can only go up once this studio hits its full stride in the coming 3 to 4 years. The studios will employ more than 1,000 highly paid professionals. Below are the listings of homes CLOSEST to Disney. You might need to look a little further out for a wider selection of properties, but searching in Fair Oaks Ranch will net better results for residential properties for sale.
Quigley and Placerita Canyons - Hit And Miss
Homes for sale in Placerita Canyon will largely be single story ranch style, with about as much variety in pricing levels as you might see anywhere in the Santa Clarita Valley. In the northern end, there are some rough streets, with no sidewalks, leading you to aging and withered houses that last looked good in the 70's.
But in Placerita Canyon, less than a mile away, there are absolutely gorgeous 3700 square foot haciendas and true ranches that have better manicured lawns than the folks at Wimbledon have. Homes there are almost all above $1 million. It is a true hit/miss situation, and it looks like it will remain that way for some time to come.
