Homes in this area range from the substantial retirement communities of Friendly Valley, which have been around for quite awhile, to the newer Valle Di Oro development near Golden Valley High School.
Friendly Valley offers homeowners 55 and older serene surroundings, and comprehensive amenities, including a 9 hole private golf course. An expensive membership fee nearing $3,000 awaits those moving into the area.
Just north of there, Rainbow Glen is a large development nestled among the rolling hills bounded by Via Princessa, Sierra Highway and Soledad Canyon Road. You'll find most homes for sale there on tight cul-de-sac streets that are rather narrow.
La Mesa Jr. High is located there, and the newer Golden Valley HS is the likely high school for students living in this area,
The nearby Via Princessa Metrolink station offers a commuter stop for trains running to downtown L.A. The Vista Del Canon area is located west of the Stater Brothers/Costco shopping centers, and you'll find a quiet community that is only 2 minutes away from the 14 freeway, though it severely lacks parking space or any kind of greenery. I call it a stucco canyon. Only Lantana Hills has any quantity of single family homes for sale situated so close to the commute start to Los Angeles.

New Communities in Newhall
Valle Di Oro was the most recent project to pop up in eastern Newhall, but Trestles is the new kid on the block in with about 35 single family homes situated....painfully close to the Metrolink tracks. In fact, you have to drive under the tracks to enter the community. Hence the name, 'Trestles." The homes are very close to each other, but surprisingly, the train wasn't as loud as I expected it to be.
Less than two miles away to the north, build-out of Five Knolls is nearly complete. One note: We can help you with NEW homes as well, with such things as negotiating custom add-ons into the price. Home buyers need an agent for a new home purchase as much as they need one for an existing home purchase, and they cost the buyer nothing.
